A younger portrait of Byzantine empress Irene of Athens

A portrait of a young Irene Sarantapechaina, which I made for the YouTube channel Eastern Roman History.
Irene Sarantapechaina was born in the 8th century Athens. At that time, Athens belonged to the Theme of Hellas.
Although Irene was an iconophile, she was chosen by Constantine V, an iconoclast emperor, to be his son’s bride.
